NEEDHIM Ministries

Usually a simple question. Why is this happening? Who am I? Why am I here? This is a safe place to ask. A place to search, ask, and listen. No order forms. No donations. No merchandise. Just things to read. Things to watch. People to listen. No specific starting point. We all start some place different. Its your journey. You choose where to start.

Nothing — Something — Interest — Basics — Why — Hope — Now — Next

Our questions usually start with Nothing and end with Hope…

Now, there is a lot here. We are ready to listen if you have questions. You choose.

Are you ready to begin your journey to God?

Need Him is not a prayer line or a counseling center. We are an evangelism response ministry dedicated “to intentionally present the gospel.” We praise the Lord that Need Him’s mission is being accomplished as we prayerfully continue to introduce people to Christ who NEED HIM.

Don’t worry

“I believe God is managing affairs and that He doesn’t need any advice from me. With God in charge, I believe everything will work out for the best in the end. So what is there to worry about.”  ― Henry Ford

I am second

I am Second small groups are designed to connect people with one another and with God through an authentic, action based discussion group. You are here for a reason. We all have needs and could use some help. I Am Second is designed to help people discover their purpose in life. Have you discovered yours? The stories shared at I Am Second provide insight into dealing with typical struggles of everyday living. Find the hope, peace, and fulfillment that others have found. Be Second.

Let your faith be like a shield, and you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Ephesians 6:16 (CEV)

Please join St. Mark’s Lutheran Church as we launch the first I Am Second small group meeting today at 6 p.m. at the Java Creek Cafe in the Boyson Road plaza, Cedar Rapids.  We will view a video and then have a discussion about it. Everyone is welcome, you need not be a member of the church, just have a open mind to discover your purpose in life through Jesus Christ.

Winding Path

Today I learned someone who I call a friend is moving on with their life. He is a Pastor of a local church that I got the chance to visit a few times but was hoping to visit again sometime soon.  So it’s my regret that I haven’t gotten back to hear his teachings. Sometimes God can touch out life by bring others into our life and giving us a relationship.  I only got to meet Pastor Eric a few times but I know God has truly blessed him and no matter where he goes, God will lead him.

For many of us we can look down the road and know where we are going and not worry about life. Our path in life is never a straight one, many times we come to curves and turns and we don’t always like them. We might have a great job, a wonderful home and family, a nice car to drive and clothes to wear. Trusting God is easy when life is “set” for us and all we have to do is get up the next day and our life goes on without thinking about it. When we live life on the “edge” and don’t have the option of knowing where we’ll be the next day, week or month, trusting God some times is all we have. It’s when we know we don’t control the path of our life that we start to lead a God centered life, trusting in His Grace and goodness. To get up each day and truly be thankful that He has blessed us with another chance to do His work is all we can ask for.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

We don’t know what the tomorrows of life will hold for us, but when we give our life over to Christ we know where we’ll end up someday.

Thank you pastor Eric Sloter, no matter what your title is or where you are, you’ll always be a teacher to me and my life has been blessed to have called you friend and brother in Christ.

Keep The Light Burning

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”  (Matthew 5:14-16)

Light has always been of importance to man. Light takes away darkness. The sun’s light provides us with nutritional and energy needs. Light is also a type of security and safety for us. Children often feel the need to sleep with a light on. They fear the darkness which is our natural tendency. So, the nightlight takes away the fear. In the scriptures above, Jesus tells us of our value as light to the world. Our usefulness as light helps with the direction of people’s lives. We help people see the difference between the light and the darkness.

There is another thing I have discovered about “letting our lights shine.” In Jesus time, people normally burned oil in s small lamp all night. One of the reasons for this is to indicate that someone was home. If thieves came to break in, they were less likely to break into a lighted house. If travelers came, they would know if they might be able to enjoy hospitality.

When our lights are burning in the night, we show people that “someone’s home.” The Spirit of God is alive and well within his people. It is only when the light goes out that we lose our influence and indirectly hurt His.
